Parallel hybrids can use comparable recharging principles, however they can be powered by the gasoline engine only, the electric motor only, or both concurrently. Examples of parallel hybrids include the Toyota Prius, Nissan Altima Hybrid, Ford Escape Hybrid, and GM’s new Tahoe/Yukon hybrid SUVs.
